Alejandra Montaño Romero

Postdoctoral Fellow

Alejandra received her B.S. in Biology from St. Mary’s University in 2020. She then completed her Ph.D. in 2025 at Johns Hopkins University in Dr. Edward Twomey’s lab (Department of Biophysics and Biophysical Chemistry), focusing on how iGluR ion permeation mechanisms are altered by a neurodevelopment mutation using cryo-EM and all-atom molecular dynamics. For her postdoctoral work, she is co-mentored by Jeff Gray and Evan O’Brien.

Fun fact: Alejandra is a self-taught programmer.
